Waterfall more than a hundred meters falling from a skyscraper

Many residents in the Chinese city of Guiyang thought they were hallucinating when they saw a large waterfall falling in front of a tall building.

The 108-meter-high waterfall is part of the design of the Liebian building located in the central business district of Guiyang city in southwestern China, Xinhua reported yesterday. A large storage tank is located at the foot of the 121 meter tall skyscraper, where 185 kW pumps will bring water to the top of the falls.

This is the only building with a waterfall in the city.

In the man-made waterfall video, the water ripples in the sun, creating a rainbow in front of the building’s glass. Photos taken from above also reveal clear water like white silk spewing out near the roof of the building. This is the only building with a waterfall in the city.

The waterfall is under the management of Guizhou Ludiya Real Estate Company and is designed to attract visitors. According to Mr. Cheng, a building spokesman, the main water source comes from tap water, rainwater or other treated water channels.

“Our building has a storage and drainage system four stories high underground. Water is pumped up and recycled from there. The cost of electricity to run the waterfall for an hour is 7. That’s it. The reason we don’t turn on the waterfall every day is just for special festivals in the city,” Cheng said.

Each time on, the waterfall only flows for about 10-20 minutes to save electricity. Some social media users expressed interest in the waterfall in the building while many considered it a waste of electricity and water design.
