Enemy hiding behind brick walls is always a challenge for infantrymen of any army when fighting in urban areas. Russian special forces are now equipped with many powerful rifle models to deal with these types of targets.
The ShAK-12 is a large assault rifle that uses 12.7 x 55mm ammunition, developed specifically for the Spetsnaz special forces units of the Federal Security Service (FSB) in 2017.

This gun model is designed for urban melee environments and can penetrate heavy armor, even through brick walls. ShAK-12’s ammunition is said to have the most damage of all Russian rifles when fired at close range.
According to experts, the standard ammunition of the ShAK-12 has an effective range of about 100 m. The gun can also fire armor-piercing projectiles capable of destroying targets from a distance of 300 meters. The bullpup design (the magazine is located behind the trigger) allows the gun to work more effectively in the tight spaces of urban warfare.
ShAK-12’s magazine can hold 10 or 20 rounds. To reduce recoil, the ShAK-12 is fitted with a dual-chamber recoil compensator and a rubber shoulder pad. The gun can also be fitted with silencers, grenade launchers and optical sights thanks to Picatinny rails on the top and bottom.

The DXL-3 was developed by the private company Lobaev in 2010 and is currently in service with the Federal Guard, which is responsible for protecting the President and senior leadership.
The DXL-3 is made from high-strength aluminum and can operate in environments with temperatures ranging from -450C to 600C. The gun uses Lapua Magnum .338 ammunition, allowing the gunner to destroy the target at a distance of 1,800 m.
The DXL-3 is designed to overcome the limitations caused by the excessive recoil of the Lapua Magnum .338 bullets causing the shooter such as shoulder bruising, shoulder joint pain, retinal damage. The gun works best in urban combat environments and uneven terrain conditions.

The AN-94 appeared in the mid-1990s, as one of the first rifle models developed to replace the AK-74 series. The gun uses 5.45 x 39 mm ammunition and is said to overcome the accuracy limitations of the AK-74.
Experts say that the designer of the AN-94 has succeeded in creating a mass-produced weapon that operates on the principle of pneumatic loading, recoil, and gas extraction to reduce recoil.
Thanks to this mechanism, the gunner feels the recoil of the gun only after the first two shots, that is, the barrel rises only after two bullets leave the barrel and the third bullet has entered the chamber. The two-shot mode of the AN-94 was developed based on this feature and is very popular with Russian special forces.
However, through practical testing, the AN-94 is not suitable for forces that are not highly trained or have limited skills, so the Russian Defense Ministry only buys limited quantities in small quantities to equip them. task force.
