The Trung Nam solar and wind power complex in Ninh Thuan is the largest solar power project that has just been officially operated and connected to the national grid.
On April 27, Trung Nam solar and wind power complex in Ninh Thuan province officially joined the national grid.
The renewable energy farm complex of Trung Nam Group is located on two communes Bac Phong and Loi Hai (Thuan Nam) with an area of 900 hectares, with a total investment of nearly 10,000 billion VND.

Phase 1 of the project has a total investment of nearly 5,000 billion VND. The project is deployed on an area of 264 hectares with 700,000 solar panels and 17 wind power poles. The total annual exploitation output of nearly 1 billion kWh has been connected to the national grid through the 220 kV Thap Cham substation.
This is the largest renewable energy complex in Vietnam. The project uses gearless wind turbine technology and automatically adjusts to catch the wind. The wind towers can start and operate when the wind speed is only 2.5 m/s.
In addition, this project uses inverter technology and solar radiation conversion provided by Siemens in solar power fields.
The devices are designed to withstand temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius without loss of conversion efficiency, nor overload due to high temperatures.
Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam highly appreciated the efforts of investors when completing the project in the shortest time.
According to him, the completion of phase 1 of the project is a leap in Vietnam’s renewable energy, contributing to the sustainable development of Ninh Thuan province in particular and the country in general.
” I believe that in the near future Ninh Thuan will develop tourism associated with clean energy, which will bring more sustainable development to the locality,” said the Deputy Prime Minister.
Mr. Luu Xuan Vinh, Chairman of Ninh Thuan Provincial People’s Committee, added that there are 19 wind power projects in the area so far. In which, there are 16 projects that have been granted investment certificates and decided on investment policies with a capacity of about 1,154 MW and a total registered capital of approximately VND 37,000 billion.
