The heroic general finally suffered a tragic end: Tomb Tri was mutilated, and his relatives had to be exiled 3,000 miles. When he was executed in front of the city gate, many people even fought over his body as if they wanted to eat it and swallow it alive. The hero’s remains were only part of his head.
Many people may have known the famous general Vien Chong Hoan and the fierce battles against the Qing army in the 17th century. About his unjust death, there are many stories that are still discussed by posterity.
Vien Sung Hoan (1584-1630), was originally a mandarin but had a special interest in military strategy and tactics. In the early 17th century, the leader of the Jurchens, Nurhaci, repeatedly defeated the Ming army in the wars in Liaodong (now northeastern China), pushing the Ming dynasty into a state of serious threat. important.
Knowing the military tactics, Vien Sung Hoan offered to ask the Ming emperor to let him defend the Son Hai border area. Here, he established many solid defenses such as Ninh Vien and Cam Chau to fight against the Jurchens. Vien Sung Hoan built a high citadel, deep moat, arranged many cannons, and defended against many attacks of the Nu Chan cavalry.
A central heart, but Vien Sung Hoan suffered a tragic ending: Tomb Tri was mutilated, relatives had to be exiled 3,000 miles. (Illustration).
Unlike many previous generals, Vien Chong Hoan did not defend negatively but actively counterattacked at any time. The Jurchen army was repeatedly defeated at the hands of Vien Sung Hoan by the same scenario: Quan Minh risked his life to defend the city, and when the Nu Chan army retreated, they were counterattacked and pursued. The leader Nur Hacich himself also had to hold a grudge and die after losing badly to Yuan Chonghuan’s army.
However, when he reached the peak of his career, and gradually pushed the Nu Chan army out of the country, Vien Sung Hoan had to suffer a terrible injustice. Emperor Chong Trinh at that time believed in the flattery of the false gods, fell prey to the scheming of Hoang Thai Chi (son of Nur Hacich), had doubts in his mind, thinking that Vien Chong Hoan colluded with the enemy and plotted. high treason. The heroic general finally suffered a tragic end: Tomb Tri was mutilated, and his relatives had to be exiled 3,000 miles.
Sadly, the people he protected wholeheartedly did not know right from wrong, right or wrong, hearing that Yuan Chong Huan colluded with the Jurchen army to be convicted of treason, they turned to hate him to the core. When he was executed in front of the city gate, many people even fought over his body as if they wanted to eat it and swallow it alive. The hero’s remains were only part of his head.
Vien Sung Hoan’s death shocked the whole country, and soldiers outside the border gate heard the news and were extremely dissatisfied and depressed. On the other hand, the Jurchens removed a thorn in the eye. Hoang Thai Chi’s biggest rival on the way to Trung Nguyen is no longer there. Since then, the Ming Dynasty has not had any significant generals that can replace Vien Sung Hoan. Only 14 years after his death, the Ming dynasty also perished.
Yuan Chong Huan died because of a counterintelligence scheme. Because Huang Taiji couldn’t fight him on the battlefield, he had to use this unique move. It is completely impossible to say that Hoang Thai Chi is cunning, because when two pieces are fighting, it is normal for such techniques to appear. In battle, no one cares about the process, only the end is the most important thing.
We can only blame Emperor Sung Trinh for being too suspicious and refusing to understand the moral: “If you doubt people, don’t use them, if you use people, don’t doubt people”. Only a small trick of the enemy made Sung Trinh blind, suspicious, first still using him, then ordered to be mutilated to death.
At that time Vien Sung Hoan had a close bodyguard, surnamed Xa. This person did not care about the danger of life, in the middle of the night stole his head and temporarily buried it in the garden. But this is not a long term plan. If it was exposed, it would cause disaster, and it would be impossible to preserve the owner’s grave.
So the bodyguard summoned his descendants, proclaimed three oaths, and asked the descendants not to violate them.
First, descendants of the next generation are not allowed to be mandarins. Second, descendants must take care of the general’s grave and incense from generation to generation. Third, he had to leave home and go abroad, never to return from there.
His descendants have always adhered to the teachings of their ancestors. To this day, the grave keepers are the 17th generation. 400 years have passed, the grave keepers still do not leave their duties.
Vien Sung Hoan’s injustice lasted more than 100 years. Ironically, the king who announced the truth and came down to vindicate him was the descendant of his arch-rival: Emperor Dai Thanh Qian Long, 5-generation grandson of Hoang Thai Chi.
