The official cause of the crash has never been released, leading to various theories ranging from pilot error to a collision with a hot air balloon, even an encounter with an unidentified flying object ( UFOs).
The photos released on March 27 were taken by the Investigative Committee a day after the accident. The image shows the wreckage of the plane scattered at the scene. But they shed no more light on the passing of the world’s first astronaut.
In addition, a photo of Mr. Gagarin’s funeral was also released. He and his teammates were cremated the day after his death. Their ashes were interred in Red Square after a state funeral.
