Many houses in the south and east of Sibiu, Romania, have such windows. They make it feel like this city never sleeps and whether morning or night they will always watch over the people here little by little.

These windows were built with the purpose of cooling the attic , where the locals used to store meat, cheese and grain.

Such a special window shape is to increase the optimal ventilation and cooling efficiency while still preventing direct sunlight from entering the warehouse. According to recorded documents, these eye-shaped windows were built between the 15th and 19th centuries.

Although the use of eye-shaped windows is very clear, many residents still assert that their original purpose is to bring a feeling of fear to people, reminding that someone is always watching them from the outside. on high and forcing them to behave properly, not to do anything unscrupulous.
