“General Data Protection Regulation” (GDPR) means EU General Data Protection Regulation 2016/679. On May 25, 2018 the EU’s GDPR came into force.

How do we collect information from you?

We obtain information about you when you use our website, for example, when you contact us, sign up for ScienceAndSpace account or register to receive one of our newsletters.

What information is being collected?

The personal information we collect might include your name, email address, IP address, unique identifiers, such as nick names and passwords, and information regarding what pages are accessed and when. If you make a donation online your payment details are not held by us, it is collected by our third party payment processors.

How is your information used?

We may use your information to:

  • Send you communications which you have requested and that may be of interest to you;
  • Seek your views or comments on the services we provide;
  • Notify you of changes to our services;
  • Provide insights into how our sites are accessed and used;
  • Process a donation that you have made.

Who has access to your information?

We will not sell or rent your information to third parties. We will not share your information with third parties for marketing purposes.

Like many other websites, the ScienceAndSpace including its websites (phys.org, medicalxpress.com, techxplore.com) uses cookies. Any email messages we send are in accordance with the GDPR and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations. We provide you with an easy method to withdraw your consent (unsubscribe) or manage your preferences at any time.

Data retention

GDPR gives you the right to ask for your data to be deleted. We already provide functionality to delete your data in ScienceAndSpace account. Contact us with any inquiries about your data that cannot be handled with self-service tools.

International data transfers

When you use our websites, and/or our services, personal information may be transferred to the United States, where our primary processing facilities are located, and possibly to other countries in which we operate. When we pass your personal data to outside the EU we follow GDPR principles of data protection.

Data security and protection

We ensure the security of any personal information we hold by using secure data transfer and storage technologies and precise procedures in how we store, access and manage that information. ScienceAndSpace protects all personal data via the industry standard Advanced Encryption Standard (AES-256), an algorithm that encrypts data in transfer and at rest.
