Sculptor Romain Langlois studied medical and anatomical books to understand the human body to create his first statues using only plaster and clay. However, wanting to be able to use a more durable material, he turned to copper, a metal he now incorporates into most of his work.
Romain’s works show the process of detaching objects around him – including rocks, branches, etc. He used copper as the “glue” between the two parts, highlighting a strong energy.
Often his works are made on calcite deposits.
Romain argues that the use of copper metal actually shows a strong bonding energy between the two parts.
According to Romain, he didn’t want to lead the audience, but wanted them to be able to ask their own questions like: “What does it look like…”
The bark is “dyed” in bronze.
Romain also wants to emphasize that the energy that the works show is also somewhat more attractive to the viewer, with effects like this.
A drop of water”.
Currently, Langlois is living and working in La Cote Martin, France.
