Earth Science: Evolution
The appearance of the Earth and the organisms living here has been changing for many billions of years and will keep changing in the future. Impressive discoveries of fossils show this change in appearance and are often subject to controversial discussion.
Both the evolutionary theory proposed by Charles Darwin and the genetic principles discovered by Gregor Mendel were significant steps in tracing the development of life on Earth and the factors involved. They concluded their theories during the mid-19th century. Evolutionary theory has since gained acceptance by the scientific community and the public. Despite the increasing degree of knowledge about the development of life, many mysteries remain to be solved.
