The rotating tape disk more than 300 meters in diameter in the city of Lappajarvi, western Finland, is powered by a boat motor. To be listed in the Guinness Book of World Records, this tape must have a very complete circle.

Sharing with the press, Mr. Thor-Fredric Karlsson – one of the team members, said that if the circle is not perfect, the tape disk will not be able to rotate, so the measurement must be very accurate. It is expected that on March 1, this group will finish cutting and chiseling the circle on this ice.

This project is the initiative of Janne Kapylehto, an expert in the field of renewable energy. Previously, in 2017, Mr. Kapylehto suddenly came up with the idea of creating a rotating tape disc after posting an online video sharing his first tape creation. This video has inspired many people all over the world, leading to the birth of rotating tapes that are increasing in size. This trend has given birth to the category of “world’s largest turntable” in the Guinness Book of World Records.

If successful with the project in Lappajarvi, Kapylehto will be recorded in the Guinness Book of Records for the 5th time, thereby breaking the record of a group in Minnesota (USA) with a tape disc with a diameter of 225 m. To date, Kapylehto and his team have created more than 60 rotating tape discs.
