World record: Planting 66 million trees in 12 hours

Greening the Earth is one of the ways to curb global climate change. And if everywhere can do it like this country, perhaps the Earth will soon be saved.

The process of climate change is accelerating day by day and people are doing everything to prevent it, or at least slow it down.

One of the possible methods proposed is to re-green areas that have been ravaged by humans.

And believe it or not, recently the Indians have set an example for the whole world by the speed of planting trees is really cool: 66 million trees within exactly 12 hours . That speed has flattened the previous record also set by themselves: 49.3 million trees.

Recently, Indians planted 66 million trees in exactly 12 hours.

More specifically, the Indian government has launched a tree planting day in Madhya Pradesh – a very large state in Central India. Within 12 hours, from 7:00 am – 7:00 pm, a large number of volunteers had somehow planted 66,300,000 young trees. That is, on average, the tree planting speed here is up to 5.5 million trees/h.

It is known that in 2016, the event was held in Uttar Pradesh within 24 hours, and they planted only 49.3 million trees. Although the Guinness World Records organization has not officially recognized it, the title of “fastest and most planted trees” is probably difficult to escape from India.

According to Indian officials, the country plans to increase the area of green land to 95 million hectares by 2030 – the time of the Paris conference on climate change. India has raised more than 6.2 billion USD to carry out this campaign, which encourages all 29 states of the country to participate.

The Indians have set a world record for planting trees.

“This tree planting campaign is based on the Paris Agreement. I am proud that Madhya Pradesh is one of the first states to participate,” said Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the head of Madhya Pradesh state.

For decades, India has not been a dominant country when it comes to environmental practices. Even they are still the leading country in carbon emissions (partly due to the overpopulation – 1.3 billion people). Many survey data show that the country faces many environmental problems, such as low air quality in the city, poor wastewater treatment, fossil fuel use…

Greening the Earth is one of the ways to restrain climate change.

But those images are fading. There have been many economic projects focusing on green energy and the environment, both locally and nationally.

And now by setting a tree planting record, the world will realize that India is ready to change in a more positive direction for the Earth’s environment.
