Mysterious "Titanic Chile" shipwreck found after 95 years missing on the seabed

Explorers have recently discovered the mysterious shipwreck “Titanic Chile” after 95 years of accident, sinking to the bottom of the sea.

Specifically, in 1922, the Itata ship carrying more than 400 people suddenly crashed and sank on the seabed after suddenly encountering a storm during the voyage between the US and Chile. An estimated 374 people were killed in the Itata disaster.

The number of casualties is also mysteriously missing like the ship off the coast of Chile.

Nearly 100 years have passed, the location of the Itata wreck remains a mysterious problem for researchers.

Since the discovery of the first clues in 2010, researchers have been trying hard to find debris and ruins of the ship dubbed “Titanic Chile” for the past 7 years.

Accordingly, recently, researchers have finally located the mysterious ship near the port of Coquimbo, Elqui province in northern Chile. They used the Autonomous Vehicle (ROV) to assist in exploring the coast of Coquimbo.

A few weeks ago, researchers at the Catholic University of the North of Chile (UCN) said that they had found the location of the Itata but have not been able to find the wreck. However, a few days later, the team had an impressive harvest when they found the wreckage on the seabed with a depth of 200 meters.

The ROV instrument captured images of the seabed 200 meters deep and showed the exact position of the ship. This makes scientists extremely happy because this may be the discovery that opens the mystery of the Itata ship.

Carlos Cortés, a filmmaker and marine biologist at UCN who led the seven-year expedition, said the discovery was of great significance and confirmed the Itata as an important heritage site. Chile’s most important in history.

In the near future, based on technology and images obtained from underwater robots, researchers can accurately confirm the ruins of the mysterious Itata ship.

The researchers hope that the new discovery of the Itata wreck can help unravel the mystery of the famous ship and its horrific accident nearly 100 years ago, and open up new research opportunities in various fields. areas such as marine biology, underwater archeology, etc.
