According to UPI, the diamond was found in the Letšeng mine of Gem Diamonds.

According to the company’s press release, this is a class IIa colorless diamond weighing up to 910 carats and of outstanding quality.

Type IIa colorless diamonds are diamonds that have very few nitrogen atoms and this makes them very expensive and highly valuable.

It is also the largest diamond found at the Letšeng mine and is believed to be the fifth largest in the world.

“Since Gem Diamonds acquired the Letšeng mine in 2006, the mine has produced some of the most remarkable diamonds in the world. However, this top quality diamond is the largest mined to date. and shows the outstanding quality of the Letšeng mine,” said Clifford Elphick, CEO of Gem Diamonds.

Gem Diamonds has not yet announced how much it will sell diamonds for. In 2006, this company sold a 357 carat diamond for $ 19.3 million (nearly 440 billion).

Ben Davis, an analyst, told Bloomberg: “Diamond valuations are varied and influenced by many factors. But assuming this diamond is not surrounded by impurities, we estimate it has initial price is 40 million USD (909 billion VND)”.
