The assassination of the famous king of ancient Greece

Many famous historical princes were assassinated while in office. Of these, many were assassinated in the most beautiful age. In particular, the assassination of King Philip II of ancient Greece attracted great attention.

King Philip II (359 – 336 BC) of the ancient Greek Kingdom of Macedonia is one of the famous historical princes.

King Philip II is mentioned in many historical books as the prince who successfully carried out the campaign to unify the city-states of ancient Greece (except Sparta). This emperor achieved this achievement when he fought side by side with his son and created a powerful Macedonian army.

King Philip II is not only famous for many achievements in the fields of economy – military – society but also known as the great father of Alexander the Great.

In the spring of 336 BC, King Philip II made an invasion of Persia. During that time, this prince solemnly married his daughter Cleopatra to Prince Alexander of Epirus. However, on the second day of the wedding, King Philip II was stabbed to death during the banquet. Accordingly, this prince died quite young, then he was only 23 years old.

The assassin of King Philip II was Pausanias – a young noble in Macedonia. So far, experts have not been able to find out why Pausanias caused the assassination. After killing the king, Pausanias tried to flee the scene but was quickly captured by Alexander the Great’s close friends and killed on the spot.

After the death of his father, Alexander the Great succeeded to the throne and continued his father’s unfinished dream. Accordingly, since ascending the throne, Alexander the Great made many successful conquests, including the Persian Empire.
