There is a large amount of food that is thrown away during the production process or from stores and supermarkets due to its expiration date. There are also many families who put food that is still usable in the trash. To avoid waste, consumers need to clearly understand the “message” that manufacturers write on product packaging.
The product packaging must always be filled with information about ingredients, nutrition (if it is a food), origin and warnings about possible harm.
However, if you pay attention, you will see that besides the above information, product packaging sometimes contains very strange symbols, such as colored boxes on water bottles or cosmetic bottles…
On plastic bottles…
Do you really understand all the symbols on the bottom of this water bottle?
Or the numbers on imported fruit stamps…
The code on the imported fruit.
So what do those characters mean? The answer will come shortly.
These symbols not only indicate what kind of plastic your water bottle is made of, but also indicate whether we should “recycle” them.
Symbols on the bottom of plastic bottles.
Besides the barcode, the imported fruits all have a rather special sequence of numbers, which can include 4 or 5 numbers, of which the first number is always 3, 4, 8 and 9. Those are PLU – Price codes. look-up code – with the main function is for cashier to make payment.
However, the PLU code also has another function, which is to tell how the fruit you are eating is “grown” , based on the first digit of the sequence.
In addition to the barcode, the imported fruits have a rather special sequence of numbers.
More specifically, the four-digit fruits are those grown by traditional methods and with the use of pesticides.
If before these 4 numbers there is a 9 , it is an organic product – organic – grown 100% by natural methods , without using any chemicals.
And finally the number 8 – the number used to refer to genetically modified organisms – Genetically modified organisms.
These circles are only intended to serve… printers.
In fact, these circles are only for the printing press, to indicate which colors are used to design the product packaging. Next to the color boxes, there will be an icon to mark all colors printed on the package.
And if you don’t see these symbols… that’s okay, because that’s just a rule set by some food companies , not a general convention.
