Earth Science: Biology – Ecology

The term ecology was first introduced in 1866 by German biologist Ernst Haeckel. However, the study of the relationships of living things with each other and their environments has only gained broader public attention as more and more people have become aware of the rising degradation of the environment.

They hope to gain new insights from this branch of science to help solve the emerging problems. The field of ecology is often subdivided according to the size of the systems being studied, such as ecophysiology, population ecology, and ecosystem ecology.

A further branch is human ecology, which studies the complex interactions between human beings and their environments.
