Humans have about 30,000 genes that exist in 23 pairs of chromosomes. The offspring will have 50% of the mother’s chromosomes and 50% of the father’s chromosomes.

Dr. Alexandra Burt, co-director of the Twin Registry at the University of Michigan (USA), said the genetic factor from identical twins is more special.

During the first two weeks of pregnancy, the fertilized egg is divided and both eggs are implanted and become two people.

In the case of twins Brittany and Briana Deane and Josh and Jeremy Salyers, each child they have will have many of the same genes as their aunt. As a result , the children had 50% of the same genes as siblings of the same parents.

This is not the same as consanguineous marriage, which causes birth defects in the children born. Therefore, the above two sets of twins do not need to worry during childbirth.

Since the 1980s, the rate of twins has increased worldwide as an increasing number of infertile women have received IVF treatment. In 1980, out of every 1,000 babies born, 19 were twins, increasing to 33 in 2016.

However, identical twins are increasingly rare, according to the Daily Mail.
