On March 28, an Airbus A-310 “Medevac” of the German Air Force transferred 6 Covid-19 patients from Bergamo, Italy, to Cologne Bonn Airport for corona virus treatment in Germany.

After arriving in Germany, Covid-19 patients were transferred to various hospitals for treatment. Germany also opened its hospitals to many Italian coronavirus patients: as of March 26, there were about 50 Covid-19 patients from Italy being treated in Germany.

“Any cross-border assistance becomes important now, ” German Minister of State Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer wrote on Twitter. “That’s why the Bundeswehr (Federal Self-Defense Forces) sent the Air Force’s flight emergency department to join the transport of seriously ill people from Italy to Germany for treatment. Europe unites.”

In total, the Airbus A310 “Medevac” carried 6 corona virus patients with 6 intensive care beds and enough room to transport 38 patients in the lying position.

Medevac’s support aircraft can be used to transport passengers or soldiers with a maximum number of 214 people, or can carry 72 tons of kerosene for refueling the aircraft.
