Hanoi metro tunneling robot arrives at Hai Phong port

The first parts of the metro robot have been brought to Hai Phong port. Assembly will be completed by mid-January 2021.

On November 9, the Hanoi Urban Railway Management Board (MRB) said that the first parts of the tunneling robot (TBM) of the urban railway line No. to Hai Phong port.

These packages will be transported to the S9 underground station in mid-November and complete assembly by mid-January 2021.

According to MRB, the tunneling robot made by Herrenknecht (Germany) with a length of more than 100 m, weighs about 850 tons, has a front digging shield with a diameter of 6.55 m.

Inside the robot is designed with many complex parts such as cutting head, digging shield, mixing arm, pressurization chamber, push cylinder, waste soil transportation system…, so transportation and assembly will take a long time. a lot of time.

To be able to bring the robot underground at S9 underground station at Kim Ma, MRB and contractors had to use a 500-ton crane to gradually bring each part to the bottom floor of the station for assembly. By design, under ideal conditions, the robot will dig about 10 m per day.

The next robot is expected to be delivered to Hai Phong port in December. After being assembled, the robots will drill from station S9 to station S12 at the end of Tran Hung Dao street with a total length of 4 km. Wherever you drill, the tunnel cover will be installed.

Before that, the first train of the route also arrived at Nhon depot on the morning of October 20. It is expected that the remaining 9 trains will be brought back in 2021.

According to the plan, the urban railway line No. 3, section Nhon – Hanoi Railway Station, will be commercially operated before the 8.5 km-long elevated section by the end of 2021; The remaining 4 km of the underground section will be exploited by the end of 2022.
